The story
A frightened tenant discovers that his hallway is learning how to scream.
A night-shift worker returns home to hear his own footsteps approaching from behind a locked door. By morning, the hallway can repeat his breathing, his apologies and his daughter's voice. Every sound teaches it something new. To reach the only room it cannot enter, he must cross the building without giving it the one sound it still needs.
